Late Series 2a gearbox and transfer box to fit a Land Rover Series fitted with the 2.25 4-cylinder engine. It will not fit Stage 1 V8s for example.
This unit is a 'late 2a' box. This means:
Large layshaft nose bearing
Large diameter intermediate gear shaft in transfer box.
It is a part synchro box.
This unit has no serial numbers stamped in the top cover.
The unit has been stripped down to its individual components, cleaned, checked and then rebuilt with all new bearings, seals and other new components as required. All mating surfaces, except for the transfer box sump and its two top covers, have been sealed with a sealant, not a paper gasket. This is in an attempt to maximise the volume of oil retained within the boxes!
Bearing surfaces on re-used shafts were slightly polished but no scoring or pitting to the surfaces were found. All teeth on the re-used gears were found to be un-chipped and in good condition.
We have not painted or had the case bead blasted. It has been washed and scrubbed clean. Also, we have reused as many of the original fixings as possible. This means, in a few years when the brightness has dulled down, it should look like it has never been removed.
All steel covers and parts have been shot blasted and powder coated satin black. The PTO cover has been painted stain black to match. New handbrake shoes have been fitted along with a good used handbrake drum.
The price is for outright sale, no exchange unit required. Please contact us if you wish to have your own unit reconditioned or this unit in exchange.
